Why Should I Invest in the Longest Span in the Industry?
Fewer drive units per machine | • Reduced per-acre costs • Requires one less set of tires, gearboxes, and motors • Fewer wheel tracks in the field — less crop damage • One less center drive motor to operate — lower energy costs |
Reduced maintenance costs | • Less oil to change in the wheel and center drive gearboxes • Fewer tires to keep inflated • Fewer U-joint pucks to check and replace • Fewer worn tower box contractors to replace • Fewer weather-checked tires to replace |
Durability and reliability | Valley engineers designed and tested the 225' span to withstand the most demanding strength and durability tests in the industry. These spans meet the same performance standards as all other Valley spans. |
Myths about the Longest Span in the Industry
A longer span means more weight, which means deeper wheel tracks. | Wheel tracks are affected by ground pressure (the tire pressure, plus 2 PSI, plus the tire width and tread style), not the span weight. Span weight for the 225' span is similar to the 160' span |
Higher sensitivity to wind resistance | Valley engineers simulate high winds by tipping the span until it rolls over. The performance of these spans was equivalent to shorter spans. |
